| Rakta Charitra Review | rakht charitra | rakta charitra movie review Posted: 21 Oct 2010 08:46 PM PDT A "Rakta Charitra" review would be remiss without mention of the controversy that seems to be overriding any discussions about the actual quality of the movie! There was certainly a lot of pre-release buzz about the movie, which follows Paritala Ravindra's journey from a soft-spoken man to a jungle-bound rebel bent on avenging the deaths of his father and brother. In fact, Ram Gopal Varma's movie faced some problems with censors, who eventually passed it with an A certificate despite some questions about violence – some are saying it's the most violent film in Indian history. What do critics think of the movie, which stars Vivek Oberoi, Subrata Dutta, Suriya and Shatrughan Sinha? There aren't a lot of reviews available yet, and I'll try to add some later as they come out. But the reviews that are out agree that it is extremely ambitious – Varma made it into two separate movies, and there are three versions, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. The movie premiered in Ananthapuram, another controversial decision, and Varma has been locked in disputes with family members of the two factions depicted in the film.

| nasik | Saptashrungi Devi Temple Nasik Posted: 21 Oct 2010 10:46 AM PDT The Saptashrungi Devi temple is located at Vani near Nashik in Maharashtra. This temple is one among the 51 Shakti peethas located on the Indian subcontinent. The Devi is said be swayambhu (self-manifested) on a rock on the sheer face of a mountain. She is surrounded by seven (sapta-in Sanskrit) peaks (shrunga-in Sanskrit), hence the name- Sapta Shrungi Mata (mother of the seven peaks). The image of the Devi is huge-about 10 feet tall with 18 hands, holding various weapons. The idol is always coated with Sindoor, which is considered auspicious in this region. She is believed to be Mahishasur Mardini, the slayer of the demon Mahishasur, who took the form of a buffalo. Hence, at the foot of the hill, from where one starts climbing the steps, there is the head of a buffalo, made is stone, and believed to be that of the demon. It is believed that the Devi Mahatmya, a sacred book which extols the greatness of Devi and her exploits was composed at this place by the sage Markandeya, who performed rigorous penance on a hill opposite the one on which the Devi resides, which is now named after him. The temple, which sort of sticks to the cliff, is 1230 meters above sea level. There is an old path with steps cut out of the mountain, which starts right at the foothills, at Vani and goes all the way to the mountain. However, now, a motorable road has been built, which goes up to an altitude of 1150 meters. From this place one has to climb around 500 steps to reach the shrine, which only takes about forty five minutes

| coal india ipo retail subscription | Coal India IPO Posted: 21 Oct 2010 10:43 AM PDT A record is being built in initial public offers as global investors flocked to buy stock in State – controlled Coal India Limited, the largest coal producing company in the world. The Coal India IPO brought in as much as Rs. 1.83 lakh crores, or 11.85 times, by the end of Wednesday, when the issue closed for Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIBs). QIBs have zapped up 24.7 times their quota of 28.4 crore shares. Retail investors have oversubscribed 1.1 times and HNIs have oversubscribed 2.89 times. Only employees appeared left out of the story as of Wednesday, with 0.04 per cent of the employee share subscribed. The initial public offer of the world's largest coal producer is priced in the range of 225 to 245 rupees per share. The offer closes on 21st of this month. The public sector undertaking has decided to launch road shows in mega cities across the country to make aware people about its public offer. This is by far the largest IPO in India (Rs 15,100 crore). Coal India is a holding company for 11 subsidiaries which are engaged in the development and operation of coal mines as well as exploration and design, making it an integrated coal mining company. Coal India is a near monopoly with 82 per cent share of India's total coal production. Its fundamentals are strong, given the widening demand-supply gap for coal and the company's improving operating metrics.
