| crpf.nic.in, CRPF CWWA Raffle Draw Result 2010 Posted: 16 Dec 2010 01:25 AM PST The Central Reserve Police Force known as CRPF is a paramilitary security agency/Force functioning under the aegis of Ministry of Home Affairs(MHA), Government of India. The CRPF's primary role lies in assisting the State/Union Territories in police operations to maintain law and order and contain insurgency. It came into existence as the Crown Representative's Police on 27 July 1939. After Indian Independence, it became the Central Reserve Police Force on enactment of the CRPF Act on 28 December 1949. Besides Law and Order and counter-insurgency duties, the role of CRPF in the General Elections, held repeatedly during the past few years, has been very significant and vital. This is especially true for the trouble-ridden states of [Jammu and Kashmir [Bihar] and in the North East. During the Parliamentary elections of September 1999, the CRPF played a major role in the security arrangements. The CRPF is the largest paramilitary force in the world[1] with 210 battalions besides various establishments. Of late, CRPF contingents are also being deployed in UN missions. The Central Reserve Police Force came into existence as Crown Representative's Police on 27th July 1939. It became the Central Reserve Police Force on enactment of the CRPF Act on 28th December 1949. It has completed 60 years of glorious history. The Force has grown into a big organization with 207 Bn, (including 181 executive Bns, 2 Mahila Bns, 10 RAF Bns, 6 CoBRA Bns, 2 DM (NDRF) Bns, 5 Signal Bns and 1 Special Duty Group), 37 Group Centres, 11 Training Institutions, 2 CWS, 7 AWS, 3 SWS, 4 Composite Hospitals of 100 bed and 17 Composite Hospitals of 50 bed. Here, it is quite significant to observe that the RBI made a cut over SLR to 24% and this will come under effect from 18th December of this year. Also, the Repo rate, the short-term lending rate kept unchanged and stayed at 6.25 per cent. Also, the Reverse Repo rate, the short-term borrowing rate kept unchanged at 5.25 per cent. Cash reverse ratio, the level of deposits that the current commercial banks has to keep with the central bank, is also unchanged and stayed at 6.0 per cent. Market reactions to this development are not much significant currently. Experts are reacting differently with the latest developments and RBI's Credit policy. The position was reviewed in 1945 and Services Commissions at Bombay, Calcutta, Madras and Lucknow were set up under Railway Board. These Commissions were introduced with two fold functions of recruiting class III staff and also tender advice to General Managers for dealing with appeals from subordinate staff on disciplinary matters.
