Pandit Bhimsen Joshi Died Posted: 23 Jan 2011 10:57 PM PST India’s iconic musician Pandit Bhimsen Joshi passed away in Pune. He was 89 years old. The 2008 Bharat Ratna honored personality was under treatment for more than a month. He was admitted due to kidney and respiratory failure and was on life support system. He was survived by three sons and one daughter. Bhimsen Joshi is considered to be the prime and most respectable Hindustani vocalist in the industry for his grasp for perfection. He also received Padma Shree, Padma Bhushan and various honors.
