Nokia and Yahoo Join Hands To Bring Integrated Web Services

World’s leading Email & online service provider Yahoo! and leading mobile phone giant Nokia today announced a worldwide strategic alliance to extend the reach of their industry leading online services and offer people rich experiences that keep them connected to their world and the world around them.

Building on more than five years of collaboration, Nokia and Yahoo!  will leverage each others’ strengths in e-mail, instant messaging and maps and navigation services, to provide consumers with access to world-class experiences on both PC and mobile devices.

As part of the alliance, Nokia will be the exclusive, global provider of Yahoo!’s maps and navigation services, integrating Ovi Maps across Yahoo! properties, branded as “powered by Ovi. Yahoo! will become the exclusive, global provider of Nokia’s Ovi Mail and Ovi Chat services branded as “Ovi Mail / Ovi Chat powered by Yahoo! Nokia and Yahoo! plan to work on ID federation between their services, beginning by making it easy for people to use their Ovi user IDs across select Yahoo! properties to easily access the online content and services they need.

The Yahoo! and Nokia’s co-branded service offerings are expected to become available from the second half of 2010, with global availability expected in 2011.

India’s Auction for Broadband Wireless Spectrum Begins

India’s Auction for Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) started today with 11 telecom players, just days after the auctioning of 3G airwave for third-generation mobile services in the country.

Leading telecom players Bharti Airtel, Reliance Wimax Ltd, Idea Cellular, Aircel, Augere Mauritius, Qualcomm, Infotel Broadband Services, Spice Internet Service Provider, Tata Communications, Tikona Digital Networks and Vodafone Essar are expected to participate in the BWA auction to acquire the two slots on offer.

The reserve or base price is Rs.1750 crore for a pan-India BWA spectrum licence.Two blocks of 20MHz unpaired spectrum in the 2.3GHz band in each of the 22 telecom circles in the country will be up for bidding.

State operators BSNL and MTNL, which have already been been given spectrum, ahead of the private players, will have to pay the equivalent of the winning bid in each service area.

Post the free usage, the charges will be at 10p / 10KB browsing The activation for both the packs can be done through e-load by providing keyword – STV.

The 19 SMS STV-:The 19 SMS STV pack offers 1,00,000 FREE Uninor to Uninor local SMS. All other local & national SMS will be available at 11p. Post 1 lakh sms, local uninor SMS will be available at 1p per SMS. The STV and its benefits are valid for 30 days.

The 23 SMS STV-:The 23 SMS STV pack offers 100 free SMS a day. These 100 SMS will be free to any network, local and national. Post free usage, all SMS would be available at 50 p. The STV and its benefits are valid for 30 days.
