IDEA 3G Services Now In Kerala and UP East

India's 3rd largest GSM Mobile Service operator IDEA Cellular today launched its 3G Mobile and Data services in two more circles Kerala and Uttar Pradesh (East).

After Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Maharashtra & Goa, Uttar Pradesh (West); Kerala and Uttar Pradesh (East) are the 7th and 8th telecom circle out of in 11 circles to get IDEA 3G services.

In UP East, IDEA Subscriber of Lucknow, Kanpur, Allahabad,Jhansi, Sitapur and Azamgarh  can enjoy rich multimedia application such as Video conferencing, Idea mall application store, Mobile TV,Video on demand and High speed Mobile Broadband with ease. The operator said that a total of 87 towns in UP (East) would be covered under IDEA 3G network by March 2012.

In Kerala telecom circle IDEA 3G service is available in more than 30 cities – Achanambalam, Adat, Adoor, Adoorengg-colg, Alimukku, Alleppey Town, Aluva, Amabalamughal, Ariyallur, Aroor, Athavanad, Avinsserry, Ayanikad, Beypore Bhavans Hill, Bmnagar, C K Para, Calicut Town, Cochin, Fort Kochi, Carborandum, Chaliyam, Chattiparamba,Kottackal, Vengara, Chelambra, Chelari, Payyoli, Quilandy, Feroke, Beypore, Malappuram ,Kottackal, Kottarakara, Punalur, Vengara, Parappanangadi, Thrissur, Chemmadnow and will grow to cover 175 towns by mid year and over 1215 towns by the end of 2012

To activate the 3G service, IDEA Mobile subscribers need to send SMS ACT3G to 12345 (toll free) or by dialing *147# (toll free) after sending the SMS the confirmation SMS will come and 2G Data Plan will be de-activated after the confirmation by subscriber 3G Data Plan "Pay As You Go" will be activated.The 3G local, STD and Roaming Video Call cost will be 5 paisa/sec (Rs.3/minute).

Tata Docomo SongShare – Share Your Caller Tune with FaceBook Friends

To bolster the VAS portfolio, Tata Docomo has launched an innovative application 'Songshare' on popular social networking site Facebook, under its Call Me Tunes (CMT) service.

The application captivates CMT / Caller Tune subscribers with extremely unique and interactive Facebooking features like publishing their Call me tune status/updates on Facebook wall.

The service also allowing their friends (using Tata Docomo GSM service) to copy songs by clicking the postings on the wall, recommending a song from the available songs list to friends group or fans and searching song content available and downloading them for all callers or a specific caller.

What More! Customers can also subscribe to Call Me Tune service (Subscription Charges Rs.30 for 30 days and Song Download Charges Rs.15/song ) on their Tata Docomo numbers, using the application. The application is available for all Tata Docomo post-paid and pre-paid subscribers.

To subscribe to the application, the customer has to log on to Tata Docomo Songshare application on Facebook. During the process of setting up the application, the customer is prompted to share his/her mobile number for authentication purpose.

The application then generates a random number and sends it to the registered cellphone via SMS. Post the same, the customer has to enter the number received via SMS and complete the registration.

Opera Software Strengthen Its Presence in Indian Sub-Continent

Opera Software, makers of the Opera web browsers for mobile phones, today strengthen its presences in Indian sub-continent with the launch of co-branded version of Opera Mini for 32 million Grameenphone (Telenor Group) users in Bangladesh.

The Opera Mini web browser for mobile phones, works on more than 3000 different handsets ranging from basic feature phones to high-end smartphones. It is the most popular browser in the world, with more than 90 million users every month.

In August last year, The Telenor Group, which is majority shareholder of Grameenphone in Bangladesh and Uninor in India, announced a global agreement with Opera Software aiming to stimulate rapid growth of mobile Internet services across Telenor's business units. As part of this Global Frame Agreement, Opera and Grameenphone have worked together to further innovate and expand the scope of the mobile Web in Bangladesh. They have developed a co-branded version of the Opera Mini browser that is customized to the local market.
